Honey house

Last updated on October 26, 2026

The Honey house section covers the steps that follow the harvest: closing out extraction, which assigns each harvested super or hive its honey type, before the resulting batch is put into storage.

End of extraction

Once supers have been physically extracted at the honey house, the website's End of extraction view lists harvested supers (and hives) that don't yet have a honey type assigned: the net weight is most often already calculated from the super's weighing. This list is filtered by apiary.

  1. Go to the End of extraction menu.
  2. Filter by apiary if needed.
  3. Tick the lines to validate and choose their honey type. If the net weight hasn't been entered yet (bulk weighing by tank rather than super by super), use Assign weight on the selection.
  4. Confirm: the ticked lines leave the list and now count toward production.

This step closes out the traceability opened at harvest: net weight calculated at weighing, honey type assigned at extraction, for each super.

What this step feeds

The net weights assigned here create the production statistics for each colony. They're then used to build statistics by stock, by apiary, by honey type, and for the honey house log. No further entry is needed.

See the Statistics page for more detail on how this production data is put to use.

Availability by plan

Manual weighing entry (Weighings, End of extraction) is included from the PRO II plan onward. The PRO III plan adds the connected weighing station, which records weighings at the honey house automatically with no manual entry — see Pricing.

Connecting the weighing station (PRO III plan)

The weighing station connects to your account by scanning a QR code shown from the mobile app: simply hold your phone's screen up to the station's scanner. No password is transmitted, the displayed code is only valid for a few days and can be regenerated at any time from the phone if needed.

For the physical assembly of the table, the module's first start-up, and the station's buttons in detail, see Weighing table installation.

After extraction: putting into storage

Extracted honey is then split into containers (drums, jars...) tracked by storage codes, to ensure traceability through to sale.

How do I keep my honey house log up to date?

A honey house log kept by hand requires copying over, after every extraction session, the weights measured per hive and per honey type — a repetitive task prone to copying errors in the middle of the season. ApiTracer feeds the honey house log with no re-entry at all: production by apiary and by honey type (with the harvest date) appears there automatically, simply from the scans made throughout the year — the harvest scan (done in a few minutes when removing the supers) and, for tracking by kilogram, the super weighings, taken automatically at the honey house entrance with the weighing station.
